Go for playing a Cipher, mechanically they are fairly simple, although they are probably more complicated than almost any other class, and I think hard to fuck up, they are fun, have a lot of unique role-playing options, and are unique to the setting. Pretty early in the game you get two companions (without spoiling anything) that fill two extremely complementary roles to what you'll probably naturally focus on as a Cipher. I wouldn't worry too much about being optimal or being brokenly weak, especially if youre not playing on PotD. DEX helps you build focus because it helps you attack faster which in turn builds focus faster. Ciphers have some excellent CC and damage dealing capabilities, which is why youll want to boost INT and MIGHT to boost those repectively. Following those will give you a pretty solid character, nothing min-max amazing, but good.Ī Cipher was my first and favourite character, and consistently my strongest in the party.
